For the introduction of the European Water Guidelines (WRRL) due in autumn 2006, municipalities, waste water purpose associations and industry need active support for the realisation of the new clarification guidelines. Due to a lack of corresponding initiatives to date, "Clarified - The Symposium 2006" dedicated the time from 10 am to 6 pm on 07.09.2006 on the Dresdner airport, primarily to this pending task. The Saxon Minister of State for Environment and Agriculture, Stanislaw Tillich, spoke in the opening lecture on this subject.
In the following complex of topics "concepts" successful municipal projects for the solution of decentralised waste water problems were presented. These were seen as valuable empirical values, especially for municipalities and waste water purpose associations. The next complex "academia" considered the conclusiveness of currently common technologies from the point of view of academia. In addition, future perspectives were discussed.
The third complex "technology" presented process engineering alternatives for decentralised sewage treatment with regard to the new European directives. Each subject was presented by high-calibre, Germany-wide acknowledged specialists, who afterwards entered into discussions with the audience. The stimulated discussions that continued into the intervals showed that the topics presented were of great importance for all attendees.
The overall conclusion for this first convention was that it provided the entire industry with a well-founded overview over the current status of waste water conditioning - on a high knowledge level. Thus, this symposium also was an important boost for interdisciplinary exchange.
